Appropriate application is required.
Qualification for stay as an exchange student alone, does not allow for students to work when in Japan. Approval is required from both the education institution where enrolled and the Immigration Bureau for Permission to Engage in Activities Other That Permitted under the Status of Residence Previously Granted . You can consult Student Affairs Division or NLiss about the application process.
Check your Residence Card!
A “Residence Card” is issued to mid-to-long-term visitors when granted permission for residence.Permission to Engage in Activities Other That Permitted under the Status of Residence Previously Granted (enabling to work a maximum of 28 hours a week, excluding work at adult entertainment business) will be registered on the back of card.
Restrictions on working hours
Please keep in mind the following restrictions.* Work must not hinder your study
If you work without appropriate permission, more than the maximum hours or excluded designated activities, you can be punished or deported. You must respect the rights and responsibilities!
